Just a few days after securing the domestic Superbike title, Leon Camier has announced he will compete in the penultimate Round of the World Superbike Championship aboard the Aprilia RSV4 this weekend.
As a part of the Airwaves Yamaha British Superbike team, Leon has dominated the 2009 Championship and broken numerous records, scoring 9 pole positions and 17 wins to date. He will be temporarily released from his contract with GSE Racing in order to take-up this incredible opportunity. Leon will then return to conclude the British Superbike season at Oulton Park in October.
This weekend will mark Leon’s second entry into the World series. Airwaves Yamaha competed as Wild Card entrants at the British round where Leon finished 13th and 6th.
On the weekend ahead Leon said, “I would like to thank Aprilia for giving me such an amazing opportunity, and also GSE Racing for being so supportive. This year has been incredible. To follow my BSB Championship win with a ride on-board a proven race winning machine in World Superbikes, is awesome.”
“It’s going to be a tough challenge for sure. There’ll be no time for testing beforehand, and I’ve never ridden at Magny Cours, but I’m really looking forward to it.”
