MV Agusta Does the Impossible and Makes the Brutale Sexier

2010 MV Agusta 1090RRUnder the watchful eyes of the new owner Harley-Davidson MV Agusta was challenged to make the Brutale even better.  According to MV 85% of the bike is redesigned.  Seeing this you would worry that the look and feel of the bike would be completely different.   MV will release 2 models the Brutale 990R and the Brutale 1090RR.

The 990R gets a ton of upgrades in the engine department reducing overall engine weight by 3.5 pounds.  Included in the weight loss is a more efficient oil cooling system and improved transmission.  Fuel delivery is handled by new 46mm Marelli throttle body which features built-in plugs to add optional upgrades, both software and hardware, including traction control and double EFI mapping.  Exhaust gases now exit via a new exhaust system, which has a choke valve operated by the injection control unit, aimed to “improve drivability and power delivery” and we would assume improve fuel efficiency and a little greener. Handling and suspension is now being taken care of by Marzocchi designed forks and internals for exclusively MV Agusta.   As for the chassis, front wheel trail has been increased from 101.5mm to 103.5mm, steering head angle from 24.5 degrees to 25 degrees, wheelbase from 55.51 inches to 56.61 inches and the seat height from 31.69 inches to 32.68 inches. The braking system is handled by 310mm NHK discs and by Brembo radial-mount 4-piston calipers.

The big brother Brutale 1090RR is a bored out 990R block.  The changes between the two siblings is minimal with only color matched air ducts and steering dampener being added to keep you upright with this beast.  The 1090 also features an MV Agusta-designed slipper clutch. As for the chassis, the 1090RR gets thin-spoke forged wheels, adjustable footpegs, a dual-compression-adjustable Sachs shock and 320mm Brembo front discs with forged monobloc Brembo calipers.

2010 MV Augusta 1090RRPricing and availability have yet to be announced but we are guessing the 990R and 1090RR will be the best looking bikes for 2010.
