The SV650 Project Bike is really coming along nicely and has really started taking shape.  After some setbacks by rain causeing engine trouble, falling off the kick stand, and a broken bolt in the frame it is finally looking up.

I recently changed the front fork springs + fork oil, front stainless brake lines with w/high temp brake fluid, and new rearsets  from SV Racing Parts EBay store.  These three modifications have really brought the bike up to the next level of performance .  The front fork springs and brake upgrade is obviously the most noticeable with the rearsets providing the clearance needed to lean the bike over further.

The WP  fork springs and 30 weight oil upgrade brings a lot more feel and confidence in the front end.  Under hard braking the front end doesn’t bottom out and during cornering the front is planted.  Upgrading the brake lines and brake fluid allows for much more feel and confidence in agressive braking.  Still missing for the brakes are the upgraded brake pads which have still not arrived yet.

The rearset installation was very straight forward with no real snags.  I had to adjust the brake and shift levers several times in order to find the best feel for my riding style.  The new rearsets look incredible and are considerably lighter than the stock set.  For the right side the rear brake switch from the stock rearset doesnt fit with the new bracket.  I will have to drain the rear brakes and install this new presure activate switch in the brak caliper itself so for the time being I will have no rear brake light tied to the rear brake for now until I make this modificaion.

Now the Bad part.  I was installing the tank risers purchased from SV Racing Parts EBay store.  The design of these tank risers seemed very paciular from the get go.  Instead of a basic spacer this actualy has a bolt inside the tank riser and the stock bolt bolts through top.  So two bolts for one spacer.  Apetite for disaster, you bet!  After installing the first one it seemed alright but not exactly what I would consider a good fit.  While installing the second spacer I was tightening the top bolt which was pushing on the bottom bolt and it caused the bottom bolt to break.  After taking everything apart and inspecting what happend the bolt broke below the lip of the frame.  Just what I didnt need since I was planning on riding it.  I know you can ride with 1 tank bolt in but the principle of it would drive me nuts.

I removed the broken bolt and put everything back together and it is really starting to look good(Check the DYI section for removing broken bolts).  I am still in the market for a rear shock upgrade, double bubble wind screen, wavy b rake rotors front and rear, chain, and front & rear sprockets.
