MotoGP: Valention Rossi Wins 100th Victory at Assen

The sun broke through the rain clouds of last night, temperature has come up, and the track is dry in time for Round 7 of the Assen Dutch TT.

As the tight pack goes around the first lap with tons of passing throughout the field.  Dani Pedrosa and his HRC Honda took the early lead with Stoner and Rossi tailing.  A few corners later Stoner and Rossi pass Pedrosa and then shortly after Rossi sticks a big inside pass on Stoner.Lorenzo is pulling up the rear of the front group of rides running 4th.

Back in the pack it looks like a freight train behind Nicky Hayden in eight position.  About 5 riders are all over the back of Nicky trying to get by this narrow circuit.

Lorenzo a few laps in puts a god pass on Pedrosa and makes it stick trying to reel Stoner and Rossi back in.  At the end of the front straight Pedrosa tucks the front end and walks away from the bike.  Lorenzo has a close scrap with Stoner with Lorenzo finally taking second position and setting his sights on the leader Rossi.

Nicky Hayden riding in incredible race running in 7th position but has a full deck of riders still all over his rear tire.

Rossi is slowly building a gap between Lorenzo but Lorenzo is doing everything he can to keep the Doctor within sight.

James Toseland finally finds a way around Nicky to take 7th position but Nicky is fighting for the position back.  Privateer Ducati rider Mika Kalio is now all over Hayden sniffing up the inside.  The second HRC Honda of Dovisioso dumps it in the exact same spot as Pedrosa.  Both HRC Honda’s are out of the race now.

At the halfway point of the race the battle currently is for 6th position with James Toseland, Mika Kalio, Nicky Hayden, and Randy de Puneit al fighting for that spot.  Lorenzo is 1.9 seconds behind Rossi with Stoner stil safely in third since Dovizioso has crashed out.  The race right now is in the middle of the pack.  As tires are starting to go off the positions are trading at an amazing pace.  The ride order around 6th position changes two to three times per lap.  Great racing going on.  Big contact between Randy de Puniet and Tony Elias as they are battling for position.

Rossi is running off from the pack and opening the gap more and more between Lorenzo.

Hayden trying to put a pass on Kalio slides the bike sideways and runs off the track.  He then rejoins the track in 11th still in the same group fighting for 6th.  Kalio passes James Toseland and now is running 6th.  This is exciting clean racing.

Rossi runs to the checkered flag making the 100th Victory of his career.

The last lap of the race Kalio loses the front end and James Toseland takes sixth.

The Valentino Rossi post race celebrations as always he reveals the 100th Victories of his career to the Rossi section of the fans. Always a show master!
