Fiat Yamaha Duo Dominate in Spain
The track temperatures were soaring at the Cataunya Circuit. It was known that this race would be both demanding from the tires and riders with such extreme conditions. The Fiat Yamaha duo Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lornezo maintained the dominance they showed all weekend. From the start the riding order didn’t change much as Lorenzo lead, Rossi second, and Stoner third. A few laps later the Doctor showed the junior Lornezo a great move around his teammate. Rossi lead for a few laps while Lorenzo regained his rythm. Lap 13 showed Lorenzo put his identical Fiat Yamaha up the inside of Rossi.
Menawhile the Ducati from Casey Stoner couldnt match the Fiat Yamaha duo. It was definetly a Yamaha weekend as the pair of riders kept challenging each other all weekend.
Loris Capirossi took advantage of Pedrosa’s halfway through of the race and took the fight to Pedrosa. At lap 9 Capirossi took fifth postion from Pedrosa while very soon after Pedrosa passed Capirossi’s Suzuki right back. A couple laps later Capirossi went back by Pedrosa. The HRC Honda has more horsepower but Capirossi has the experience of knowing when to attack.
Rossi had been stalking Lorenzo ever since he passed him earlier waiting like a lion in the bushes for the right time to lurch past his team mate. The pair were right on top of each the entire race. While the bikes were running exactly the same compund tires it was only little setups differences that made the bikes different.
Andrea Dovizioso reeled in Casey Stoner with 6 laps to go sniffing his exhaust while looking up the inside and outside for an opportunity to pass. But, couldnt get around the big red Ducati.
Rossi hard on the brakes in Catalunya
With 3 laps to go the Rossi fans on their feet while Rossi out brakes Lorenzo. Rossi stepped up the pace trying to make the last few laps even more exciting than they already are. Lorenzo answers back the challenge and doesn’t let Rossi run off. The very next lap Lorenzo hides in the slipstream and passes Rossi and then Rossi out brakes Lorenzo on the front straight. Wow exciting racing folks.
With 2 laps to go no one is sitting down. Everyone is watching these two battle as this race comes down to the wire. On the last lap Lorenzo slams the door on Rossi to take the lead. Rossi now two corners laer passes Lorenzo but cannot make it stick. This is madness. Only a few more corners to go as Rossi is ready to make one last run. On the last corner Rossi passes Lorenzo and makes it stick across the line. WHAT A RACE!
