Race 1 Superbike Race Losail
What an exciting race between Max Biaggi, Noriyuki Haga, and Ben Spies. 3 Different bikes and engines the Aprilia V-4 , the Big bang engine from the Yamaha, Ducati V-Twin running for top position with lots of exciting passing. It is great to see three different manufactures battling it out for the podium.
Biaggi and Haga battled hard for second postion with lots of close racing and great pasing with Biaggi showing his experience and that the new Aprilia is here to stay. With only a few laps to go Haga passes Biaggi. On the final lap they traded second position several times with Haga crossing the finish line just in front of Biaggi.
Ben Spies was the only rider towards the end of the race to go below the 2 minute mark. The rookie from Texas was showing these Word Superbike boys how it is done today. Laying in line with the top three Spies he flipped the switch with 6 Laps to go Ben Spies steps the pace up and runs away from Haga and Biaggi and remained up front until the finish line.
We will wait and see if Ben Spies can continue his strong weekend in Race 2.
