The 2009 CBR1000RR is the lightest and most compact in its class. And for 2009, it’s available with Honda’s high-tech electronically controlled Combined ABS for the ultimate in sportbike braking performance. Tapping into the MotoGP DNA pool the new CBR receives the revolutionary Honda Electronic Steering Damper or HESD which varies damping rates according to vehicle speed and acceleration, sharpening responsiveness.
The engine gets some new toys also like the two sets of injectors per cylinder for both low- and high-rpm performance. This allows for instantaneous high-rpm response along with great low-rpm metering and clean running. The new air box is MotoGP-derived twin-tunnel ram-air system which allows a high volume of cooler air to the 9.7-liter airbox for linear power delivery and incredible engine performance. Inside the new ram duct system are butterfly valves which open and close depending on throttle opening and engine rpm for optimum performance.
The chassis of the bike also contains a MotoGP-derived Unit Pro-Link® Rear Suspension for added handling and performance. The Lightweight four-piece Fine Die-Cast, twin-spar aluminum frame combined with the 43mm Honda Multi-Action System (HMAS) inverted front fork soak up those high and low speed bumps around town and on the race track. Radial-mount front brake calipers combined with radial-actuated master cylinder bring this new superbike to a stand still with urgency.
Also combined with the new release of the CBR 1000RR is a new website from Honda which allows you to design your own dream rendition to your liking. Check out the CBR Design Gallery.
Keep a close eye out for the 2009 liter bike shoot out as all he contenders this year looked to have stepped up their game.
